LIRR Service Plan For Today’s AM Rush
A short while ago, the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) issued their service plan for today’s morning rush which includes the cancellation of 23 westbound trains. Here are the complete details:
As a result of the snowfall from the Nor’easter, the MTA Long Island Rail Road plans to operate a significantly reduced weekday AM Rush schedule.
The limited weekday train service includes the cancelation of 23 westbound AM rush trains and extremely limited train service in the LIRR’s diesel territory. Additionally, there will be no diesel train service east of Speonk on the Montauk Branch and east of Ronkonkoma on the Main Line to Greenport.
The Railroad’s aim is always to keep as much train service operating as possible on all branches. But to ensure customer and employee safety, service may be temporarily suspended if snow continues to accumulate through morning service and accumulations reaches 10 to 13 inches. These suspensions will permit our employees to make maximum use of snow removal equipment to clear drifting snow and ice from our tracks, switches and train yards so safe and reliable service can be restored.
If customers are planning to travel, they are urged to check on LIRR service before heading to train stations by monitoring the MTA website, www.mta.info, listening to the latest news broadcasts and traffic reports and/or signing up for our free E-Alerts that provide the latest train information direct from the LIRR train operations center.
AM Peak Train Cancelations:
The 23 canceled westbound AM rush hour trains include:
Huntington/Port Jefferson Branch:
• The 6:25 AM train from Hicksville, due in Penn Station at 7:11 AM. Customers can take the 6:15 AM train from Huntington, due in Penn Station at 7:17 AM, which will make added stops at Carle Place, Merillon Avenue and New Hyde Park.
• The 6:50 AM train from Huntington, due in Hunterspoint Avenue at 7:49 AM.
• The 8:55 AM train from Huntington , due in Penn Station at 10:05 AM. Customers can take the 9:44 AM train from Hicksville, due in Penn Station at 10:29 AM, which will made added stops at Westbury, Carle Place, Merillon Avenue, New Hyde Park, Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Woodside.

Port Washington Branch:
• The 6:17 AM train from Port Washington, due in Penn Station at 7:03 AM, is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 6:25 AM train from Port Washington, due in Penn Station at 7:14 AM.
• The 8:58 AM train from Great Neck, due in Penn Station at 9:34 AM.

Babylon Branch:
• The 5:59 AM train from Massapequa Park, due in Penn Station at 6:55 AM.
• The 6:57 AM train from Freeport, due in Penn Station at 7:40 AM. Customers can take the 6:32 AM train from Babylon, due in Penn Station at 7:37 AM, which will make added stops at Freeport, Baldwin, and Rockville Centre.
• The 6:59 AM train from Massapequa Park, due in Atlantic Terminal at 7:54 AM.
• The 7:29 AM train from Freeport, due in Penn Station at 8:13 AM. Customers can take the 7:11 AM train from Massapequa Park, due in Penn Station at 8:08 AM, which will make added stops at Freeport, Baldwin and Rockville Centre.
• The 7:48 AM train from Wantagh, due in Penn Station at 8:40 AM.
• The 8:03 AM train from Long Beach, due in Penn Station at 8:54 AM is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 8:08 AM train from Long Beach, due in Penn Station at 9:02 AM.
• The 8:10 AM train from Freeport, due in Penn Station at 8:50 AM.
• The 8:25 AM train from Freeport, due in Penn Station at 9:08 AM.

• The 6:00 AM train from Farmingdale, due in Penn Station at 6:50 AM.
• The 6:54 AM train from Central Islip, due in Penn Station at 8:06 AM.

The following eastbound Reverse peak trains will be canceled:
• The 7:23 AM train from Penn Station, due in Jamaica at 7:47 AM.
• The 8:31 AM train from Atlantic Avenue Terminal, due in Jamaica at 8:49 AM
