NYCT Extends Service For Black Eyed Peas Concert
With the Black Eyed Peas set to play a free concert in Great Lawn of Central Park, MTA NYC Transit has announced that they will extend service on the Brooklyn-bound & reroute Brooklyn-bound service to the local track. Here are complete details courtesy of a press release just issued:
The Black Eyed Peas will hold a concert on the Great Lawn of Central Park on Thursday, June 9 beginning at 6:30 p.m. and ending at approximately 10 p.m. This is a free ticketed event planned for approximately 60,000 people.
General admission ticket holders will enter the event area at 72nd Street on the east and west sides of Central Park. VIP ticket holders (about 5,800) will enter at West 81st Street and Central Park West. Gates are scheduled to open at 3 p.m.
Following the event, MTA New York City Transit will extend southbound B train service until 11:22 p.m. Southbound D trains will be rerouted on the local track in order to serve stations along Central Park West between 10:26 and 11:26 p.m.
Customers heading to Penn Station, Port Authority or PATH are urged to use the B and D service at 86th Street, 81st Street and 72nd Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle and transfer to the 1 or to 7th Avenue and transfer to the E.
MTA New York City Transit buses: M1, M3, M4, M10 M66, M72 and M79 may be affected by post-concert crowds.
