LIRR New Year’s Eve 2017 Service Info

Here is the MTA Long Island Rail Road’s service plan for the upcoming New Year’s Eve holiday:

MTA Long Island Rail Road is ready to help customers ring in the New Year with extra train service for the extended holiday weekend, beginning with additional eastbound trains to accommodate customers leaving work early on Friday, December 29.

The railroad will also run additional westbound trains on New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31, for revelers heading to the city to celebrate, as well as extra service early New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1, 2018, to get partygoers safely back home.

Over the New Year’s weekend, the railroad will operate on a weekend-holiday schedule with the usual ban on alcohol on trains and on station platforms from noon on New Year’s Eve until noon on New Year’s Day.

Friday, December 29 – 13 Extra Eastbound Early Getaway Trains

The Long Island Rail Road is adding 13 trains to its eastbound afternoon schedule of departures from Penn Station on Friday, December 29, to accommodate customers leaving work early to begin the extended New Year’s holiday weekend. The additional service from Penn Station will be provided between 12:43 p.m. and 3:48 p.m. on the Ronkonkoma, Babylon, Port Jefferson, Port Washington and Far Rockaway Branches.

Ronkonkoma Branch – 2 Extra Trains (No Pinelawn Stop):

12:43 p.m. stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then local to Ronkonkoma.

1:49 p.m. stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then local to Ronkonkoma.

Babylon Branch – 6 Extra Trains:

1:28 p.m. express to Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.

1:56 p.m. express to Jamaica, stopping at Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.

2:22 p.m. express to Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.

2:32 p.m. express to Lynbrook, then local to Babylon.

3:00 p.m. stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.

3:31 p.m. express to Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.

Port Jefferson Branch – 3 Extra Trains:

2:08 p.m. stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, then local to Huntington.

2:29 p.m. stopping at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica, New Hyde Park, then local to Huntington.

3:24 p.m. stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Westbury and Hicksville.

Port Washington Branch – 1 Extra Train:

3:40 p.m. stopping at Woodside, Flushing Main Street, then local to Great Neck.

Far Rockaway Branch – 1 Extra Train:

3:48 p.m. stopping at Locust Manor, Laurelton, Rosedale, Valley Stream, then local to Far Rockaway.

New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31 – 10 Extra Westbound Trains

Long Islanders who plan to head for New York City to mark the arrival of 2018 will find 10 extra trains added to the regular weekend/holiday schedule.

Ronkonkoma Branch – 2 Extra Trains (No Pinelawn Stop):

5:09 p.m. from Ronkonkoma making local stops to Hicksville, then stopping at Mineola, Jamaica and Penn Station.

7:09 p.m. from Ronkonkoma making local stops to Hicksville, then stopping at Mineola, Jamaica and Penn Station.

Babylon/Montauk Branch – 3 Extra Trains:

6:19 p.m. from Babylon making local stops to Lynbrook, then stopping at Jamaica and Penn Station.

7:19 p.m. from Babylon, making local stops to Lynbrook, then stopping at Jamaica and Penn Station.

7:31 p.m. from Speonk making local stops to Babylon, then stopping at Jamaica and Penn Station.

Port Jefferson Branch – 1 Extra Train:

6:45 p.m. from Port Jefferson making local stops to Huntington, then stopping at Hicksville, Jamaica and Penn Station.

Huntington Branch – 1 Extra Train:

6:42 p.m. from Huntington making local stops to New Hyde Park, then stopping at Jamaica and Penn Station.

Port Washington Branch – 3 Extra Trains:

6:37 p.m. from Port Washington making local stops to Great Neck, then stopping at Bayside, Woodside and Penn Station.

7:37 p.m. from Port Washington making local stops to Great Neck, then stopping at Bayside, Woodside and Penn Station.

8:37 p.m. from Port Washington making local stops to Great Neck, then stopping at Bayside, Woodside and Penn Station.

New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1, 2018 – 14 Extra AM Eastbound Trains

Between 12:30 a.m. and 4:20 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1, 2018, a total of 14 extra trains will operate from Penn Station to accommodate customers heading home after celebrating the arrival of the New Year. For the remainder of the day, the LIRR will operate on a holiday/weekend schedule.

Babylon Branch – 4 Extra Trains:

1:12 a.m. stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.

2:11 a.m. stopping at Jamaica, Lynbrook, then local to Babylon.

3:00 a.m. stopping at Jamaica, Lynbrook, then local to Babylon.

3:29 a.m. stopping at Jamaica, Lynbrook, then local to Babylon.

Montauk Branch/Speonk – 1 Extra Train:

1:29 a.m. stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Center, then local to Speonk.

Huntington Branch – 1 Extra Train:

2:44 a.m. stopping at Jamaica, New Hyde Park, then local to Huntington.

Port Jefferson Branch – 1 Extra Train:

3:12 a.m. stopping at Jamaica, New Hyde Park, then local to Port Jefferson.

Ronkonkoma Branch – 3 Extra Trains (No Pinelawn Stop):

12:29 a.m. stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then local to Ronkonkoma.

2:03 a.m. stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then local to Ronkonkoma.

Reminder: Last Weekend for Extra Holiday Service:

As noted in the timetables, the weekend of Saturday, December 30 and Sunday, December 31, is the final weekend the LIRR will be running added holiday service — four extra morning westbound trains and six extra afternoon eastbound trains — on the Babylon, Long Beach and Port Jefferson branches.
