LIRR July 4th 2013 Travel Info

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will be offering extra getaway service for the July 4th holiday on July 3rd. Here is the complete details:

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide additional early-afternoon service from Penn Station, Wednesday, July 3, adding eight eastbound trains to the schedule for customers planning
an early getaway for the start of the Independence Day holiday.

The extra early-afternoon trains will depart Penn Station starting at 2:08 PM and includes three extra trains on the Babylon Branch, three on the Port Jefferson Branch, one extra train on the Port Washington Branch and one extra train on the Far Rockaway Branch.

(LIRR customers are reminded that the Railroad will be operating on a Sunday/holiday schedule on the Fourth of July.)

Added Afternoon Eastbound Trains for Wednesday, July 3

The following service has been added to the eastbound afternoon schedule:

Babylon Branch:

2:32 PM from Penn Station express to Lynbrook, then all stops to Babylon

3:00 PM from Penn Station stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, all stops to Babylon

3:31 PM from Penn Station express to Rockville Centre, then all stops to Babylon

Port Jefferson Branch:

2:08 PM stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, then all stops to Huntington.

2:29 PM stopping at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica, New Hyde Park, all stops to Huntington.

3:24 PM stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Westbury and Hicksville.

Port Washington Branch:

3:40 PM stopping at Woodside, Flushing Main St., then all stops to Great Neck.

Far Rockaway Branch:

3:48 PM express to Locust Manor, then all stops to Far Rockaway

Additional Service, Wednesday, July 3 to Montauk and Greenport

Customers are reminded that the following eastbound trains, which normally run only on summer Fridays, will also operate on Wednesday, including the Montauk Cannonball (which will also run on Friday, as scheduled).

Montauk Branch:

1:49 PM from Hunterspoint Avenue stopping at Jamaica, Westhampton and all stops to Montauk.

4:07 PM Cannonball from Penn Station, stopping only at Westhampton, Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton and Montauk.

5:09 PM from Penn Station will stop at Jamaica and make all stops to Montauk

7:11PM from Penn Station will stop at Jamaica, Bellport, Speonk, Westhampton and all stations to Montauk.

Ronkonkoma Branch:

The 5:21 PM train from Ronkonkoma to Yaphank has been extended to make all stops to Greenport.

Metro-North July 4th 2013 Travel Info

The MTA Metro-North Railroad will be providing extra service for the July 4th getaway which is always the day before. Here is the complete information on it:

Declare your independence from traffic this July 4th Holiday by taking Metro-North Railroad to celebrate our nation’s 237th birthday this year. On Wednesday, July 3, to help you get a jump on the holiday, Metro-North offers 23 extra early getaway trains in the early afternoon.

On Thursday, July 4 a Sunday schedule will operate with off-peak fares and with several additional trains on the Harlem and New Haven to get you to and from the annual Macy’s Fireworks. Most connecting services will not operate on Thursday, July 4. However, the Ulster- Poughkeepsie Link will operate a Sunday schedule.

On Friday, July 5, trains run on a Saturday schedule with extra service throughout the day. Offpeak fares apply.

Here are the details of Wednesday’s getaway schedule:

On the Hudson Line

Extra “getaway” trains will depart from Grand Central at:

1:41 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Beacon, New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie.

1:45 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Tarrytown, Ossining and Croton-Harmon.

1:48 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then all stops between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie.

2:41 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Beacon, New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie.

2:45 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Tarrytown, Ossining and Croton-Harmon.

2:48 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then all stops between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie.

3:12 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Tarrytown, Ossining and Croton-Harmon.

3:46 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street and Croton-Harmon.

4:04 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, and Beacon, New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie.

The following trains usually departing Grand Central will not operate:

The 5:29 PM train to Poughkeepsie will not operate.

The 5:57 PM to Croton-Harmon will not operate.

The 6:12 PM to Poughkeepsie will not operate.

The 6:19 PM to Croton-Harmon will not operate.

Hudson Line Connecting Services

The Hudson Rail Link will begin a peak level of buses at Spuyten Duyvil starting with the 2:20 PM train from Grand Central and at Riverdale starting with the 3:20 PM train from Grand
Central.

The Haverstraw – Ossining Ferry will have an early ferry trip that will meet the 2:51 PM train from Grand Central that arrives at Ossining at 3:48 PM. Since the 5:57 PM and 6:19 PM trains will not operate, a 6:00 PM train from Grand Central that arrives at Ossining at 6:50 PM, will be met by the ferry.

The Newburgh – Beacon Ferry will have three early trips meeting the 2:48 PM, the 3:18 PM and 3:50 PM trains from Grand Central.

On the Harlem Line

Extra “getaway” trains will depart from Grand Central at:

2:18 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then all stations between Scarsdale and North White Plains.

3:14 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then White Plains and North White Plains only.

3:37 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, White Plains, then all stations between Goldens Bridge through Southeast.

The following trains usually departing Grand Central will not operate or will make additional stops:

The 5:25 PM to Brewster will not operate.

The 7:00 PM to North White Plains will not operate.

On the New Haven Line

Extra “getaway” trains will depart from Grand Central at:

12:04 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Westport, and all stations between Fairfield and New Haven.

1:04 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Westport, and all stations between Fairfield and New Haven.

1:59 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Stamford, then all stations to South Norwalk.

2:04 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Westport then all stations between Fairfield and New Haven.

2:28 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, New Rochelle, Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Harrison.

2:31 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Westport, Fairfield then all stops between Fairfield and New Haven.

2:57 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then all stations between Stamford and South Norwalk.

3:02 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then all stations between New Rochelle and Harrison.

3:04 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then Stamford, Westport and all stations between Fairfield and New Haven.

3:23 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Stamford, Westport and all stations between Fairfield and New Haven.

The 5:59 PM to Harrison and 6:02 PM to New Rochelle are combined, departing Grand Central at 6:02 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, and all stops between Mount Vernon East and Harrison.

The 6:11 PM to New Haven will also stop at South Norwalk and Westport.

The 6:17 PM to Bridgeport will not operate.

The 6:38 PM to Harrison will not operate.

The 7:11 PM to Harrison will not operate.

The 8:04 PM to New Haven will not operate.

S.I. Railway July 4th 2013 Travel Info

As is usual during major holidays, the Staten Island Railway will be offering its early “Getaway” schedule. Here is the info:

Staten Island Railway customers looking to get a head start on the Fourth of July holiday will be able to catch earlier afternoon express train service on Wednesday, July 3 with MTA Staten Island Railway’s Early Departure Getaway schedule. Extra SIR trains will be added earlier in the afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m. from the St. George Ferry Terminal. There will be one express train and one local train awaiting every boat until 7:50 p.m. On the Fourth of July, SIR will operate on a Sunday schedule. Staten Island Railway is prepared to add additional service prior to and after the fireworks, as needed.
