Service Diversions 08-22-11
I have just updated the Service Diversions by removing all of the weekend work that wrapped up an hour ago. The planned work for this week & beyond in some cases has been moved to the forefront.
I suggest printing out a copy before heading to your destination. If you have an internet capable handheld device, you can use it to access the mobile version of this site.
The diversions will have minor updates as scheduled ones drop off. Any minor updates will take place on the page as it is updated daily but will not be noted in an entry. The next complete update will be sometime on Thursday after I received the planned weekend diversions from the MTA directly.
While out traveling, if I notice or hear any changes, I will update them on the twitter feed so don’t forget to follow @TransitBlogger today which you can do by clicking the button in the sidebar.
As always, stay safe & have a wonderful week.

Bus To Run For Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival
Once again, MTA New York City Transit will be running a special bus for those wishing to attend to the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in Queens. Here are the details via press release:
The annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival will be held in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens on Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14. And, similar to last year, MTA New York City Transit will operate a fare paid special event shuttle bus between Mets-Willets Point 7 subway station and the festival site in the park. Customers may also use the Q48 bus to Flushing Meadows Park and transfer to the special shuttle bus on Roosevelt Avenue.
Riders pay the regular fare ($2.25) with exact change or their MetroCard or may use their subway-to-bus or bus-to-bus MetroCard transfer option to board this special event bus. As the festival site is some distance from local bus and subway routes, these shuttle buses will operate non-stop between the Mets-Willets Point 7 subway station and the event site in Flushing Meadows Park about every 5 minutes from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. (Customers should note that Flushing-bound 7 service is express from Queensboro Plaza to Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue, stopping only at Woodside-61st Street this weekend.)
