Staten Island Railway Weekend Service Diversion

In some rare Staten Island Railway news, riders should note that service will not be available at St. George Ferry Terminal this weekend. Here are complete details via press release:

MTA Staten Island Railway (SIR) reminds customers that this upcoming weekend, SIR will shut down service for a second weekend at the St. George Ferry Terminal so that vital drainage work can be performed. Free shuttle bus service will be provided between the St. George and Tompkinsville stations.

Beginning 9 p.m. Friday, April 19 until 4 a.m. Monday, April 23, SIR workers will remove rail, ties and ballast in order to install drainage piping in the tunnel and upgrade the track. Shuttle buses will be available at St. George on the skyway located above the bus ramps and at the Tompkinsville station on the corner of Bay Street and Victory Boulevard.

Other workers, taking advantage of this outage, will be installing floors in the St. George Terminal and running cables for improved communications. NYC Department of Transportation will conduct bus ramp work, condition assessments and environmental projects.
